Beijing Sightseeing - Day 2

Sunday was our 2nd day of sightseeing in Beijing! We enjoyed another great breakfast at our hotel and leave just after 9:00 to attend an international church service in Beijing. The service was all in English, and we had to show our passports to enter the building. It was an interesting experience for sure!

After church we went to the Jade Factory! Bought some treasures for some special people at home and Jason bought me some beautiful pieces, too! I will say the Chinese salespeople are VERY persistent! Next was another Chinese meal ( I will admit that I could go for some American food right about now!).

What we were really looking forward to today was our trip to The Great Wall - never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be able to climb the Great Wall, but once we started this journey to Makenna, I couldn't wait for this experience. The weather was rainy on the way out of the city to the part of the wall we would visit, but the rain did stop by the time we arrived. We were left with a combination of low clouds and Beijing "smog" - so our view wasn't too great, but we still count it a blessing to see this amazing site. We walked up a bit - Jason walked to the first watch tower, and I stopped just before that part. Coming down was definitely more challenging than going up!

After climbing the Great Wall, we all got back into our bus and stopped at a Tea House for a traditional tea ceremony, then we headed for dinner ( yup, more Chinese food!). I really haven't had much of an appetite since arriving so a little bit of this and a little of that is all I am eating.

We got back to the hotel around 8:00 and it was time to get our bags packed up and ready for Monday. On Monday our travel group splits up and we all go to the province where our children are located. We will be heading with one other family to the city of Nanjing in the province of Jiangsu. We will fly about 90 minutes from Beijing to Nanjing early on Monday morning! Our group will all reunite on Friday night in Guangzhou with our children for the final part of the adoption process.

We headed to bed around 9:00 and hoped to get some good sleep to prepare for GOTCHA DAY on Monday!
