Civil Affairs Appointment - Tuesday

Tuesday morning we woke up before Zhenzhen to get ready - little girl slept from 8:00 at night until about 6:15 - exactly her schedule we were given from her nanny. She woke up happy and ready to play. She loves clothes and shoes! She was ready to get dressed and eat breakfast! We headed down to the buffet, and to my "surprise" it is mostly Chinese food - not easy for this Mama who isn't a big breakfast person to start! Zhenzhen, however loved it - this girl can eat! She owned two yogurts, fried egg, pancake, watermelon, dragon fruit, steamed pork bun and milk. It was so good to see her enjoy her breakfast!

After breakfast, we got ready to go back to the Civil Affairs Office, this is the same room we met Zhenzhen, but this time we are going to finalize our adoption. The director of her orphanage and her nanny will be there, too. She got nervous when we got our bags out to leave, and when we got in the van we could tell she was scared. Once inside the office room, she was happy to see her nanny and a little boy she is friends with who is also being adopted. She was playing with them and talking to her nanny. It was soon our turn for our Civil Affairs appointment, which meant she had to come sit with us for our fingerprinting and paperwork. Her nanny came over and talked to her through the whole process. She told her that we traveled very far to get her and we are taking her back home with us so she can go to school. In the chaos of the situation, sadly, we got no pictures of the fingerprinting. As her nanny would talk to her, she would relax, and I think it was really helpful for her to hear that we are Baba and Mama!

We were the first family done so we had time to relax and let Zhenzhen play with her friends ( as a side note, it is probably worth saying it was at least 95 degrees in the office - wow, serious heat!). When all the appointments were done, the orphanage director and nanny were ready to leave. We made arrangements to visit the orphanage on Wednesday, but it was still another goodbye for Zhenzhen. She cried some with they left, but she let me hold her and comfort her and very soon it was just a whimper and then she was okay.

After the Civil Affairs office, our group stopped at the local Care Fourre for some supplIes - food, water, toys to take to the orphanage and some toys for Zhenzhen. She had fun picking things out and putting them in the cart!

We went back to the hotel and made a a noodle bowl for lunch. Then we laid down and Zhenzhen took a really good nap (so did Mama!). She woke up happy and ready to play. We played in our room for several hours - this girl loves to play any kind of ball, she loves bubbles, and stacking cups and loves the iPad!

We met the other family traveling with us and went to Pizza Hut for dinner! Pizza Hut is a lot different than in the States - more of an Applebee's. we just got pizza - and Zhenzhen loved it! Then we walked around the market area outside our hotel. We soon headed back to the hotel for bath time (Shea loves her bath!) and bedtime. When it's time for bed, I lay down and she comes and lays down next to me and goes to sleep.

She is so sweet and funny, but she is also starting to test us. She started hitting and kicking today so we are working on stopping this. She is still reserved and doesen't want to give or receive too much affection, although I kiss her head or cheek every chance I get and tell her I love you all the time - most times she replies, I love you! Yup, we are going to be okay - so in love with our daughter!
